Watkins Solicitors is pleased to share that Managing Partner Beverley Watkins has been appointed to The Law Society Council as the elected representative for Bristol. The Council is the Law Society’s governing body and plays a central role in shaping national policy, promoting professional standards, and safeguarding the interests of solicitors across England and Wales.

Beverley’s appointment reflects her long-standing contribution to the profession, both through her leadership at Watkins Solicitors and her national work in family law, education law and legal aid. In her new role, she will help represent the interests of solicitors across Bristol, contributing directly to discussions and decisions that influence the future direction of the profession.

With more than thirty years of experience in family and education law as well as legal aid, Beverley brings a deep understanding of the challenges faced by practitioners, particularly those working in areas where access to justice is under pressure. Her insight into the realities of legal aid practice, along with her experience supporting, training and encouraging the next generation of solicitors will be an important perspective within the Council’s work.

Speaking about the appointment, Beverley said:

Beverley will continue her full-time role as Managing Partner alongside her Council responsibilities, ensuring Watkins Solicitors remains closely connected to developments affecting solicitors across the region.
