Watkins Solicitors Attend Resolution National Conference 2026 in Brighton

Senior Associate Solicitor Nicola Harvey recently attended the Resolution National Conference 2026 in Brighton, joining family justice professionals from across the country for one of the largest annual gatherings within the family law sector.

Held over two days at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel, the conference brought together solicitors, barristers, judges and other professionals working within family law to discuss developments across the sector, share best practice and explore the evolving challenges facing families and practitioners.

The conference programme covered a broad range of important topics affecting family law professionals and clients alike, including children law updates, financial remedy developments, legal aid, ethics and professional practice, family wellbeing and the future direction of the family justice system. Workshops and panel discussions throughout the event focused on practical learning, collaboration and supporting better outcomes for families.

The conference included a keynote live podcast recording of Talking Family Law featuring Professor Rosemary Hunter KC and Mr Justice McKendrick, alongside specialist workshops covering issues such as financial remedies, legal aid and family wellbeing practice within the family justice system.

One of the highlights of the conference was an address from Sir Stephen Cobb, the newly appointed Head of the Family Division. Sessions throughout the event also explored current developments within family law, including the increasing use of AI within the legal sector, recent case law updates and the continued focus on achieving constructive and less adversarial outcomes for families.

Attending conferences such as this forms an important part of Watkins Solicitors’ ongoing commitment to professional development and ensuring clients continue to receive informed, practical and up-to-date legal advice across all areas of Family Law.

Nicola Harvey said:

“It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with other Family Law professionals from across the country and hear from some of the sector’s leading judges, barristers and practitioners on the issues currently affecting family law.

I found the conference extremely inspiring, particularly the continued focus on achieving less adversarial outcomes for families and encouraging constructive approaches to dispute resolution wherever possible. It was also very interesting to hear discussions around the increasing role of AI within the legal sector and how family law continues to evolve alongside wider changes within society and the profession.”

The event also provided an opportunity to connect with professionals from across the country, exchange experiences and discuss the ongoing changes affecting families, children and the wider family justice system.
