For more than 10 years, Watkins Solicitors has been very active in supporting the local community.

Solicitor Victoria Shufflebottom has been a trustee for Survive, a charity which supports victims of domestic violence in South Gloucestershire, for a number of years. In 2012, she cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats, raising £1,500 for Survive.  Ten members of Watkins Solicitors also ran the Bristol 10K in 2012, again raising money for Survive.  Several members of staff are intending to run the Bristol Half Marathon in September 2013, again to raise money for Survive. In 2011, 12 members of staff ran the Bristol 10K to raise money for WISH – a support group in South Bristol which supported victims of domestic violence. Sadly this organisation no longer exists.

The firm also raised £1,200 by holding a spring sale to raise money for the British Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, the first rhythmic group to represent GB at the Olympics as they were self-financing and received no funding.  For more information about the rhythmic gymnastics group, please see http://www.gbrhythmicgroup.co.uk/

Beverley Watkins has been a volunteer Solicitor at local law centres and advice agencies since 1979 and a volunteer Solicitor at Avon & Bristol Law Centre since 1997. Victoria Shufflebottom has also volunteered at Avon & Bristol Law Centre for a number of years.  For more information on Avon and Bristol Law Centre  please see http://www.ablc.org.uk/

The firm supports Guide Dogs for the Blind by sending all used postage stamps, from letters the office receives to the Guide Dogs for the Blind and have done this since 1998! For more information on Guide Dogs for the Blind see http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/

In May 2013, Watkins Solicitors plans a further spring sale to raise money for the  Bedminster Children’s Lantern Parade which will be held in December 2013. This parade involves children from 7 Primary Schools in Bedminster and Southville, Bristol.
