Beatrice Morgan

Beatrice Morgan is an Associate Solicitor in the Judicial Review and Human Rights team at Watkins Solicitors.

Beatrice advises individuals, families and representatives in cases involving health and social care and human rights, inquests, public law challenges, Court of Protection health and welfare proceedings and public inquiries.

She has particular experience acting for children, young people and adults with care and support needs, including autistic people, people with learning disabilities, people with physical disabilities, people with communication needs, people detained under the Mental Health Act, and people receiving care in residential settings, supported living arrangements or in their own home.

Her work includes claims for damages arising from serious failures in health and social care settings. These may involve failures by NHS bodies, local authorities or commissioned care providers resulting in degrading treatment, physical injury, or psychological harm. For example failures to appropriately assess or meet the needs of an individual, inappropriate or excessive restraint, restrictions on liberty, unsafe or inadequate care.

Beatrice also advises and represents bereaved families at inquests involving deaths in, or following recent contact with, health and social care services.

Her public law work includes challenges to decisions made by NHS organisations and other health bodies, including those regarding access to healthcare, refusals to provide treatment or medication, healthcare eligibility criteria, and individual funding requests

Beatrice also has experience in Court of Protection health and welfare cases, including matters involving residence, deprivation of liberty, care arrangements, and personal relationships.

In addition, Beatrice has worked on major public inquiries, including the Infected Blood Inquiry and the Covid Inquiry.

Beatrice studied Philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London, before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law at Southbank University, and then the Legal Practice Course at London Metropolitan University. She qualified as a solicitor in 2018. Beatrice has worked on cases arising from the treatment and care of people in health and social care settings for more than 10 years

Outside work, Beatrice enjoys trying new restaurants, hiking and travel.
