Watkins Solicitors Joins Jigsaw Thornbury's Parent Drop-In Session
This week, Emma Thompson, Solicitor in Watkins Solicitors’ Education Law Team, was invited to speak at Jigsaw Thornbury’s Tuesday Morning Drop-In Session.
The session brought together local parents and carers from across South Gloucestershire to discuss key topics around Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and wider special educational needs (SEN) support. Emma led an open discussion covering parents’ legal rights, how to challenge local authority decisions, and the importance of gathering the right evidence to secure appropriate provision for children and young people.
Feedback from the event has been excellent, with several parents seeking further advice and guidance following the session.
Emma Thompson said:
“It was a real privilege to meet so many parents and carers who are working tirelessly to support their children’s education. Conversations like these show how powerful it can be when families understand their rights and feel equipped to use them. We are very grateful to Jigsaw Thornbury for the invitation and look forward to continuing to support their community.”
Sessions like this highlight Watkins Solicitors’ commitment to community engagement and to making specialist legal advice accessible to families across the South West. The firm looks forward to working with Jigsaw Thornbury again in the future to reach and support more families in the region.
