The Role: Family Solicitor - Matrimonial Finances Specialist

An exciting opportunity has emerged within our Family Department for a full-time Family Solicitor specialising in financial matters following relationship breakdowns, as well as pre and post-nuptial agreements. The standard work week is 35 hours, Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm. Candidates can work in Bristol, Bath, or Hereford.


The Candidate:

We are seeking an experienced candidate in family law, including financial and property issues post-relationship breakdowns, as well as pre-nuptial, separation, and cohabitation agreements. Familiarity with TOLATA is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be proactive, highly organised, and eager to continue their professional development.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Meeting new clients, taking instructions, and providing advice.
  • Building and managing a caseload efficiently.
  • Drafting statements and other required documents.
  • Representing clients in court and conducting advocacy.
  • Attending advocates and professionals meetings.
  • Instructing counsel and experts.
  • Building links with external agencies.
  • Supervising, training, and providing feedback to paralegals.
  • Assisting the head of the Department as necessary.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong background in Family Law, particularly divorce and pre/post-nuptial agreements.
  • Qualified solicitors or equivalent.
  • Excellent client care and organisational skills.
  • Professional telephone manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Prioritisation and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in TOLATA.

Salary: £35,000.00 to £50,000.00 dependent on experience.
