JK Rowling and the breach of confidence

  • Posted

Confidentiality is at the heart of everything a solicitor does. It is astonishing therefore to discover that a partner in a solicitors firm which deals with entertainment law was at the heart of the disclosure that Robert Glbraith was a pseudonym for JK Rowling. The writer, not surprisingly is said to be ‘very angry’ after finding out that Chris Gossage a partner at Russells Solicitors, had told his wife’s best friend Judith Callegari that Robert Galbraith was really Rowling.

It is not known whether Judith Callegari is still the best friend of Gossage’s wife, but it seems unlikely that he will be inviting her around to dinner any time soon after she send a tweet to The Times.

We will have to wait and see what the long term consequences are for Russells Solicitors and indeed Gossage but they currently look very bleak.
